Koch Minerals & Trading (KM&T) is seeking a Senior Accountant (Hybrid) to join our team! Located at the Koch Industries Corporate Campus in Wichita, KS, we are looking for candidates who are committed to creating long-term value, challenging the status quo, and finding fulfillment in their work. In this role, you will collaborate closely with accounting professionals, back-office IT, middle-office, credit, treasury, tax, and risk teams within the Koch Minerals & Trading organization and other Koch affiliated companies. The Senior Accountant plays an active role in efficiently producing accurate and relevant financial information for business decision making. You will be responsible for delivering analysis reports in a timely manner and demonstrating a solid understanding of accounting concepts and principles within our global commodity trading organization.

What You Will Do

• Complete and innovate the month-end close and financial reporting processes, including recording, reviewing, reconciling, and analyzing monthly trade accruals
• Analyze large volumes of data from multiple sources, identify discrepancies, and perform variance analysis – think critically, problem solve, and follow up until resolution is achieved
• Demonstrate understanding of complex business hierarchies for GAAP and management reporting purposes
• Provide support to other Corporate Capabilities for financial and government reporting inquiries
• Reconcile trading activity from trading system to the general ledger on a monthly basis.
• Seek and share knowledge, identify opportunities for improvements, challenge the status quo, and develop recommendations for transformation
• Participate in larger scale implementation projects, define accounting requirements, and complete testing
• Develop and foster working relationships that support overall business strategies and decision making
• Ensure full compliance with KM&T Trading Standards and work to strengthen control environment
• Seek and share knowledge internally and externally to identify transformative best practices

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

• Bachelors degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Business

• A minimum of 5 years previous experience in an Accounting focused role that required a working knowledge of Accounting processes, US GAAP requirements and Internal Financial Controls
• Intermediate to advanced experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel/Access/Power Point/ – spreadsheet creation/editing, pivot tables, data manipulation/analysis, formula creation, and queries, presentations)
• Experience in the application of fundamental accounting concepts and principles
• This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship

What Will Put You Ahead

• Masters degree, CPA, or other professional business certification

• Knowledge of commodity trading and trading fundamentals
• Experience writing queries and using SQL
• Experience with and/or ability to utilize business intelligence tools for data visualization and data mining/blending such as Alteryx, Power BI, Automation Anywhere, or other software
• Process Improvement / Process Transformation / Process Implementation experience
• Experience with foreign currency
