Flint Hills Resources is looking for a Senior Process Engineer- Hydroprocessing to join their Corpus Christi, Texas refinery. The Senior Process Engineer is a key member of the site Process Technology department as well as a critical support member of Business Teams. The process engineering team is dedicated to being the technical leaders that drive the highest value solution for our partners. You will be joining a technical community of 30+ chemical engineers dedicated to the troubleshooting, optimization, and design improvement of the refinery units.

What You Will Do

• Building and expanding technical network internally and externally to the company
• Developing value creation ideas and projects economic analysis for assigned units and technologies
• Ensuring the technical basis of projects meets business objectives.
• Monitoring long-term unit performance against industry benchmarks
• Supporting the building of a unit monitoring toolkits for Hydroprocessing units
• Reviewing and supporting benchmark studies (Solomon)
• Mentoring and supporting Production Engineers during unit troubleshooting, unit monitoring, PHAs, critical procedures, and monthly Business Review meetings
• Directing and assisting Operations with the design of experiments and process guidelines
• Owning the Process Engineer modeling programs
• Providing turnaround program technical support and technical scoping as needed
• Contributing to process safety and environmental performance through Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) programs, Management of Changes (MOC), investigations team member or leader
• Collaborate with Economics & Planning group to ensure that refinery operation meets plan.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related field
• 7 years of refining or chemical plant process engineering experience
• Previous experience with Hydroprocessing technologies
• Experience with catalyst selection processes and catalyst monitoring
• Familiarity with PHA and HAZOP processes

What Will Put You Ahead

• Bachelor of Science or higher in Chemical Engineering from an ABET (or similar) accredited program
• Experience with other typical refining processes (Hydrotreating, Crude, FCC, Alkylation, Reforming, etc.)
• Experience leading PHA revalidation studies and presenting findings to leadership
• Experience as a RCFA or investigation leader
• Knowledgeable of industry standards such at API
• Process modeling simulation with Aspen HYSYS
• Experience leading cross-functional teams
