Flint Hills Resources is now hiring a Mechanical Engineer. The mechanical engineering role is a position that builds refinery operations knowledge and understanding and application of key engineering fundamentals. These skills will enable further career opportunities in asset management, reliability or project/construction management.

What You Will Do In Your Role

As a mechanical engineer, you will develop and demonstrate an understanding of:

  • Oil flow and high-level function of refinery process units
  • Basic refinery economics
  • Analytical skills and engineering knowledge to identify, assess, and implement EH&S and business improvement opportunities
  • Reliability Engineering and small projects related to equipment reliability/improvement
  • Engineering fundamentals applied to unit monitoring and troubleshooting
  • Production Team problem resolution or opportunity definition developed within prescribed timelines
  • Function and purpose of the different support groups within the refinery
  • Support Turnaround activities in assigned areas as required
  • Troubleshooting of mechanical-related problems and leverage of root cause analysis techniques to determine the appropriate repair scopes
  • Capital project management, construction management, “Keep It Running” maintenance, and refinery Turnaround execution
  • Adhering to safe work practices while planning and coordinating execution of priority work throughout the refinery
  • How to drive innovation and transformation, make calculated bets, improve efficiency, expand capability, and create value through the application of MBM principles

The Experience You Will Bring

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (i.e., Mechanical, Electrical, Petroleum, Chemical, Civil/Structural)


What Will Put You Ahead

  • Three (3) years or more experience in a refining/petro-chemical/manufacturing facility
  • Equipment reliability, construction or project execution experience
