Heavy Equipment Operator - Nights
Description
Georgia-Pacific is now hiring for Heavy Equipment Operators at our lumber mill in Camden, Texas. This is a night shift position. This is a non-climate controlled mill, meaning temperatures can be very high in the summer and cold in the winter. As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you will safely operate front end loaders, bucket loaders, backhoes, and other heavy equipment. Additionally, you will provide coverage for operators who are absent or on vacation. Our Heavy Equipment Operators perform basic care duties such as preventative maintenance on machinery or repairing minor issues. You will also be responsible for helping maintain a safe work environment which includes some housekeeping work such as cleaning up debris in and around work areas. What You Will Do In Your Role
- Operate heavy equipment of various sizes and weights associated with unloading trucks, loading mill waste or other log handling equipment
- Utilize your mechanical experience to complete preventative maintenance tasks
- Recognize and documenting potential job hazards in compliance with company policies
- Work as a team to exceed safety, production, and quality goals
The Experience You Will Bring
Requirements:
- At least six (6) months of experience operating mobile equipment in a manufacturing, industrial, or construction environment
- Willing and able to work any shift, holidays, weekends, and overtime as needed
- Willing and able to work in a hot, humid, cold, and noisy industrial environment
- Willing and able to perform tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing, and/or pulling for up to twelve (12) hours a day
- Willing and able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, to include wearing safety equipment, i.e.: hardhat, safety glasses, hearing protection, steel-toed boots and other PPE as required by specific jobs
What Will Put You Ahead
- At least two (2) years or more experience operating heavy equipment including a 980, 966, 924, Bobcat, CAT 325
- Experience using a computer, including typing/sending emails and using a mouse
