Safety Specialist
Description
INVISTA in Longview, TX is looking for a Safety Specialist. The Longview site is known for processing Polypropylene which is used in a wide range of applications and end uses -from containers for household cleaners to flexible food packaging and even life-saving medical equipment. This is a critical role to the success of the plant and the organization. With growth abundant at INVISTA and Koch Industries, this may be just the role you are looking for.
The successful candidate will be well organized, collaborative, innovative, and experienced in building strong teams that operate as a cohesive unit beyond traditional, functional, geographical, and administrative lines.
This role typically works Monday - Friday (7a-4p).
What You Will Do In Your Role
- Develop Health and Safety strategies in alignment with Site Leadership and ensure proper execution for safety programs and projects
- Exemplify leadership qualities to ensure knowledge acquisition, and optimum use of talents and capabilities is captured
- Further align safety-first culture across the site by implementing best practices and encouraging employee ownership in addition to guaranteeing compliance with all federal and state regulations
- Develop and implement meaningful programs to guide sites in EHS internal and customer requirements
- Drive H&S excellence such that compliance with all H&S rules and regulations is achieved and responsible practices are established
- Facilitate continuous improvement by identifying creative solutions to gaps in systems and processes
- Develop a culture of trust with all INV employees and contractors by establishing and cultivating relationships through effective interactions and timely response to employees concerns and requests
- Provide exceptional customer service working to become a preferred partner both internally and externally
- Foster a Principle-based Management culture that allows Health & Safety to apply the framework to drive actions that are profitable and in alignment with our Guiding Principles
The Experience You Will Bring
Requirements:
- Previous experience in Health and Safety role
- Previous experience interpreting Federal, State, and/or local Agency Health and Safety regulatory guidance (OSHA, Fire Code, etc)
- Experience in public speaking with large groups and conducting live safety training classes
- Ability to stand and sit for extended periods of time, climb ladders and stairways, and lift up to 40lbs if necessary
- Must have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship
What Will Put You Ahead
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety & Health Management, Industrial Hygiene, or other related science/engineering degree
- PSM experience and knowledge
- Previous experience supporting the Chemical Industry
- Previous experience in Industrial Hygiene
