Eco-Tec, A Koch Separation Solutions Company is looking for a Mechanical Engineering Specialist in our Pickering, ON location. The incumbent will assume ownership of the mechanical engineering portions of new design-build projects, design structural, piping and vessel components, select mechanical components based on project scope and specification requirements, evaluate and estimate costs based on project bid specifications and make improvements/modifications to existing product designs.

What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Provide mechanical design of systems/equipment for purchasing and fabrication per the Sales order and in accordance with specifications, industrial codes/standards and Eco-Tec procedures. The design activity entails development of layouts, piping drawings, skid frame and supports, and pneumatics.
  •  Evaluate, select, and design systems that include:

-Pressure vessels,

-Pumps, blowers, compressors, mixers, etc.,

-heat exchangers, condensers, evaporators, etc.,

-Valves

  • Instrument and measurement and control devices.
  • Preparation of project documentation as per project schedule.
  • Recommend and develop product design improvements to meet the needs of the client in the competitive marketplace.
  • Provide direction and work in conjunction with Mechanical Designers.
  • Document quality standards for systems/equipment/documentation.
  • Recommend and evaluate new components.
  • Anticipate, detect, analyze and resolve mechanical design problems.
  • Equipment costing, review of tendering specifications and related documentation.
  • Provide technical support to all other departments and project stakeholders
  • Ability to work overtime as required
  • Perform other related duties as required by manager. 

The Experience You Will Bring

Requirements:

  • University Degree Mechanical Engineering.
  • Pressure vessel design experience as per ASME Section VIII-1
  • Piping design experience as per ASME B31.3.
  • 3D parametric design software experience required (Creo/Inventor/ SolidWorks preferred)
  • 2D drafting software experience (AutoCAD preferred)
  • Experience using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) programs within 3-D software.
  • Experience using Numerical analysis programs for pressure vessel design calculations (like Compress)
  • Valid passport that allows you to travel to the US currently and for at least a period of the next 12 months. Legally eligible to enter the US.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • P.Eng. designation
  • Experience with Compress
  • Experience with ANSYS FEA programs for structural design, seismic analysis and fatigue assessment
