Operation Excellence - Reliability Leader

Guardian Industries has an immediate opening for an Operation Excellence - Reliability Leader. Ideally, this position will be based out of our corporate headquarters in Auburn Hills, MI (greater Detroit area). The Operation Excellence – Reliability Leader is responsible for new and existing reliability process transformation, development, and improvements. The selected individual will work in a collaborative setting and communicate with Guardian manufacturing facilities throughout the world. The Reliability Leader will provide technical reliability knowledge to support complex, multi-disciplinary technology advancement projects. They will interact with regional operations and local plant personnel to develop a point of view on current and future reliability and maintenance improvements which requires leadership skills to influence these personnel, driving long-term value creation for Guardian Glass. Additionally, the Reliability Leader will support the initiatives for both asset life cycle and stable operations.

What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Participating in setting the vision for reliability for the region and priorities for reliability improvements for Guardian operations to maximize operational performances
  • Building relationships with the Operations organizations through constant engagement to improve operational performance and translate their needs into reliability activities. Work as one team in the field by developing a shared vision
  • Engaging in the Guardian reliability transformation and support the operations team on the plan for execution (Reliability Knowledge, Change Management, Equipment Asset Strategies)
  • Functioning as a resource for the follow up on equipment reliability issues to enable continuous improvement (Major Breakdown RCA, FMEA leadership capability)
  • Driving proven practice implementation across plants and develop preferred partnerships with operation teams to improve performances
  • Accelerating transformation by working together with capabilities such as EH&S, Quality, Remote Asset, and Productivity Enhancement Teams
  • Investigating product quality related to equipment failure and finding solutions
  • Supporting reliability input for the capital process for float and fabrication operations (DFMEA, Equipment life cycle analysis Maintainability analyses capability)
  • Leading through influence and example to drive change within operations
  • Demonstrating strong problem-solving skills such as root cause mapping – facilitation
  • Possessing strong communication skills to project information in a professional manner to both technical and non-technical groups
  • Demonstrating an open mind with a strong desire to work and contribute to an innovative team through drive, cooperation and collaboration

The Experience You Will Bring

Requirements:

  • B.S. degree or higher in Engineering OR five (5) or more years’ work experience in engineering, maintenance, or reliability within a manufacturing enterprise
  • Reliability / Maintenance process experience in full-scale manufacturing and development
  • Experience in a maintenance leadership positions OR background in reliability fundamentals and maintenance work-flow processes
  • Presentation and technical writing experience
  • Microsoft Office experience (i.e. Word, Excel, and Power Point, and/or MiniTab)
  • Willing and able to travel up to 40% of the time

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Education or work experience and experimental foundation in engineering, reliability, maintenance strategies
  • Certified Maintenance Reliability Professional (CMRP) or related training on Reliability Analytics
  • Data analysis experience using statistical tools (Weibull Analysis, Monte carlo, etc.)
  • Experience with Ultra High vacuum machines, process, trouble shooting, failure mode analysis, effect on quality
  • Understanding vacuum coater accessory machines to include: washing machine, transport system and/or glass handling machines
  • Experience handling mid frequency AC electricity sources or high-speed turbine pumps
  • Understanding basic engineering design such as: heat exchangers, pipeline, blowers, power transmission & steel structures, vacuum pump capacity calculations, material selection
  • Experience on asset care strategy development through FMEA, Criticality analysis etc.
  • Experience with project management and executing projects that require multi-functional involvement
