The Environmental Leader is responsible for leading and developing the capabilities of the environmental team, building sustainable environmental programs, transforming environmental data through applications and tools, and focusing on environmental reporting to support the INVISTA Orange Nylon Intermediates manufacturing facility in Orange, TX.

Be part of a team providing environmental support and assistance to INVISTA Nylon Intermediates manufacturing facility in Orange, Texas. The Environmental Team leader will report to the EHS Manager. Responsibilities include transforming and innovating environmental tools, establishing a sustainable program for compliance assessment and reporting, establishing system to identify and communicate environmental requirements and risks to the organization in a timely manner, managing environmental personnel to ensure roles and responsibilities are understood and maintained, resolving constraints, change management, mentoring environmental personnel for professional growth, and training.

What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Provide transformational leadership, direction, and influence to achieve a culture of environmental excellence, producing high-quality work.
  • Build a well-rounded Environmental team by identifying needed capabilities and bringing in the right talent to create an environment of Transformation and Self-Actualization.
  • Be able to inspire employees to operate as a site entrepreneur.
  • Capable of developing knowledge other team members in several air programs and other media.
  • Possess strong communication skills, initiative, and the ability to work with minimal supervision as part of a team
  • Be able to organize, prioritize, and exemplify team ownership of tasks to meet and exceed deadlines.
  • Leading transformational and innovative initiatives that advance the operational vision, visualizing on “outside the box” ideas, delivering employee driven solutions, and successfully managing environmental programs.
  • Supporting the follow-up and closure of Environmental action plans from activities such as internal and external investigations, audits, and PHAs, and providing oversight; ensuring sustainability is achieved through proper control measures.
  • Interface with State and Federal environmental regulatory authorities so that Invista Orange is received well.
  • Interface with nongovernmental entities as needed to help Invista Orange to be a welcomed entity in the industrial neighborhood
  • Interface with DOW chemical to ensure environmental contractual requirements are met.

A Day In The Life Typically Includes:

  • Manage and develop sustainability in multiple compliance programs.
  • Supervise and lead up to 5 direct reports, building their knowledge and capabilities.
  • Develop tools and templates while ensuring consistency in program compliance management.
  • Support reasonable inquiry, reporting, and compliance management processes through validating data, building, and running data queries and reports, managing environmental share drives, SharePoint sites, etc.
  • Drive continuous improvement through integration with site-wide processes, “right-sizing” tools, eliminating data management redundancy, and ensuring controls are in place for critical environmental data, and improving environmental information management and reporting activities.
  • Ensure program requirements are understood and sustainable through the development of rigorous, robust, and integrated compliance systems.
  • Perform periodic self-assessments and participate in audits to verify compliance and system effectiveness.
  • Perform required inspections and field reviews for maintaining compliance with permits and regulations.
  • Ensure that all deadlines are met for the site Compliance Plan and Periodic Reports.

The Experience You Will Bring

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor of Science degree (chemistry, environmental science, biology, etc.)
  • 3+ years in environmental air or water programs (ex: Title V)
  • 8 years of experience in an industrial/manufacturing setting OR
  • At least 5 years of supervisor experience
