Koch-Glitsch is now hiring a Working Supervisor/Fabrication to support our Hutchinson, KS manufacturing program. This is a first shift position from 7:00am-3:30pm M-F with overtime as required.

In this role we are seeking a self-motivated person that strives to provide the best customer service to both our internal and external customers and can operate remotely while coordinating a variety of work in a fast-paced changing environment. This role will be assisting supervision of 10 to 15 people in the fabrication (to include welding, mechanical assembly, and crating) of a variety of products and projects. All work to be done in accordance with internal and customer standards, and in accordance with provided drawings/specifications. This role will also assist in coordinating the receipt of raw material and supplies as well as the return of finished goods to the KG Wichita facility.

Under general supervision from Wichita, supervises the Inmate Work Program Leaders and crews assigned to inmate work programs from the Kansas Department of Corrections. Supervises a crew of individuals sentenced and serving jail time; and performs related work as required.

This is a new role so this position will be required to assist in establishing the expected procedures and policies necessary for success. There will be a significant amount of growth and change as we progress in establishing this for the long-term benefit.

What You Will Do In Your Role

Assist supervision of day-to-day operations of the Koch Glitsch KDOC manufacturing facility leading the operations of 10 to 15 inmates/residents in the production work assigned to this department. This will include

  • Perform supervision of inmates/residents and oversight of welding, mechanical fabrication, wooden crate fabrication and all support activities as applicable.
  • Coordinating daily with the KG Wichita Scheduling group to ensure correct priority is being followed and communicating daily expectations for return of completed goods.
  • Stage loads accordingly for daily scheduling requirements.
  • Issue out and return material using ERP system.
  • Assist in all receiving of materials.
  • Work in a non-climate-controlled environment.
  • Be detail oriented, organized, and reliable.
  • Coordinate incoming and outgoing shipments through the KDOC facility to ensure delays are minimized.
  • Driving box truck between Wichita plant and HCF plant.
  • Assist in daily checking in and out of tools/materials. 

The Experience You Will Bring

Requirements:

  • Previous experience using MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to pass a background check.
  •   Work overtime as required.
  • Ability to drive a box truck.
  • Essential duties require the following physical skills and work environment: Ability to work in a detention facility environment. Ability to lift to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to operate a computer and calculator.
  • Work is performed both indoors and outside in a variety of environmental conditions.
  • Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, stoop, and kneel.
  • Ability to work under conditions involving exposure to noise, dust, grease, and chemicals. Regular contact with inmates, community service individuals, and other staff

  • Knowledge of weld, structured packing and fabrication processes
  • CDL license
