Process Engineers-Project Development

Flint Hills Resources is looking for a Process Engineer to join our team at the Corpus Christi, Tx refining facilities. Process Engineers gain valuable experience for both technical and leadership careers at FHR, which is part of the global family of Koch Industries employing 120,000 people worldwide.

As a Process Engineer in the Process Technology and Project Development Capability you will leverage your process knowledge and skills to provide innovative solutions that will create competitive advantages for our business that are consistent with the company EHS and stewardship goals. 

What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Provide value-added support to advance the Refinery project portfolio from option selection thru project close-out to deliver innovative, quality, and timely solutions. This will require the process engineer to: 

    • Develop a preliminary design; thoroughly vet the same relative to business objectives and functional expectations
    • Support the continued development of the design through detailed engineering
    • Provide field support in construction (e.g., field inspection of critical process equipment)
    • Support successful commissioning of new/revamped equipment including transition to base operations
    • Actively participate in project post-audit and efforts to continually improve our processes and capture lessons-learned to future projects

The Experience You Will Bring

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Chemical Engineering
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in the refining/petrochemical industry providing technical support for operating units or support of projects,
  • Familiarity with process engineering support of projects including process development equipment design, alternative selection, economic evaluation 

What Will Put You Ahead

  • At least five (5) years of experience in the refining/petrochemical industry
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams
  • More in-depth understanding of refinery economics and how to apply to project analysis 
  • In-depth experience in Process Safety Management including Layer of Protection Analysis and Quantitative Risk Assessment 


This role is subject to the Transportation Workers Identification Credentialing (TWIC) rule and requires the successful candidate to obtain a TWIC identification badge, allowing for un-escorted access to the facility within a specific time period.


This role is not eligible for Visa sponsorship.
