Georgia-Pacific is seeking an Accounting Manager to join our Capital COE team. This role creates value for the organization by providing capital policy guidance, understanding and communicating fixed asset changes, performing balance sheet account recons, and identifying transformation opportunities through process improvements. In this visible role, you will lead a team, partner with capital project managers and others in the controller’s group, operations, and project controls.

As one of our Accounting Managers, you will report directly to a Manager of Accounting for the larger Capital Center of Excellence team. This role can office directly from our GP locations in Green Bay, Wisconsin or Atlanta, Georgia or may be worked remotely from the larger regional area in the Central or Eastern Time Zone. Travel to a GP location (including overnight stays) will be required for training/onboarding or to meet priority business demands.

Who We Are: The Capital COE team is currently comprised of 18 individuals (including 3 supervisors) in the United States and 3 individuals located in India.

What We Do: This team supports Capital Assets, Turnaround, and ARO accounts across the entire GP organization.

How We Work: Everyone is expected to be an owner and entrepreneur of the locations and businesses they support. Direction to priorities and coaching will be provided to build capability, but the individual will not be micromanaged.

How you Succeed: You will be successful by being self-directed, able to manage multiple projects, set priorities and meet deadlines. Strong critical thinking skills, clear communication, adaptability to change, and an affinity for data mining and analysis are key attributes that will be needed in this role.

What You Will Do In Your Role

This position will report to and assist the Manager of Accounting with accounting duties.

  • Supervise and grow team members capability through understanding the vison for the COE, connecting others to how their role creates value for the larger organization, and providing meaningful feedback that enables continued engagement and career development

  • Cost analysis and review of project adherence to the GP capital policy to ensure financial statement accuracy and health

  • Partner with Controller's leadership to understand and communicate fixed asset and Turnaround related impacts to financial statements

  • Understand and communicate accounting and process differences between businesses to drive Controller’s organization to a OneGP solution
  • Accounting support for fixed asset month-end closing activities
  • Aid other process and system improvement initiatives as needed
  • Advance our Principles-Based Management® culture by applying and reinforcing the company’s Guiding Principles; driving profitable application and long term operational excellence 

The Experience You Will Bring

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related Business field of study
  • Experience in an Accounting or Financial Analysis role with an understanding of GAAP, Internal Financial Controls, and Capital Accounting principles
  • You have demonstrated Leadership (i.e. proactive mind set, leading transformation, being a driver of company initiatives) and have developed capability in others
  • You are a highly motivated principled entrepreneur with the ability to analyze gaps, team with partners to close them, and become a preferred accounting service
  • Experience learning new systems and improving processes; you are an early adapter and advocate of transformation

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Familiarity with SAP, Infinium, Hyperion, OneStream, Infor
  • Comfortable using Tableau, Qlik, or Power BI to analyze data
  • Cost controls and forecasting for capital projects experience
  • Engineering, Capital Project, and/or Manufacturing Environment experience
  • MBA, Project Management Professional or related advanced degree/certification
