Due to increasing growth opportunities, Molex has identified the need to hire a  Product Design Engineer/Mechanical Design Engineer to join the European organization out of Bièvres. As part of the Product Design Engineering team, your task will be to design, develop and implement into production sensors that meet or exceed customer expectations for both cost and performance. This applies to new products as well as modifications and extensions to existing products.

What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Develop new designs, handling all phases, responsible for the technical success of the product launch as defined in the Molex Product Development Process.
  • Leads the technical effort within the product development team. 
  • Develops the design/product validation plan & report (DVP&R) according to customer or industry standards and, when appropriate, by tying it into TARs and DFMEA. 
  • Generate detailed 3D and 2D CAD information independently or within a design team to define product design requirements for manufacturing employs accepted GD&T methodology. Responsible for checking manufacturing drawings for completeness and accuracy.
  • Verifies product design by identifying and performing engineering tests and analyses including tolerance stacks and strength of materials. Ensure calculations and analysis done by the engineer team is accurate and complete.
  • Interfaces with internal departments (manufacturing, quality, reliability lab, program management, sales and marketing) to ensure design objectives are met in a timely manner and assists by providing technical assumptions and requirements, product information, engineering samples and technical advice.

The Experience You Will Bring


  • Master degree in Engineering (BAC+5  type AM, engineering or electro-technics) or equivalent work experience in a technical field.
  • Proven experience in project level work in an international environment.
  • Experience with CAD, dimensioning and design risk evaluation techniques. Knowledge of manufacturing techniques in the following areas: molding, stamping, plating, assembly and dies.
  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly and concisely to others in English and French.
  • CAD skills and knowledge (2D and 3D).
  • Team work and project management skills that demonstrate the ability to set goals and priorities in order to complete projects in a systematic and timely manner.
  • Knowledge of metals, plastics, adhesives and the basic manufacturing required for their use.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Previous experience with developing automotive sensors including (but not limited to) road noise cancelling (RNC) sensors, microphone sensors, and sensors with A2B protocol.
  • CAD skills in OSD, NX, CATIA V5 or V6, experience with finite element modeling.
  • A strong understanding of contact physics and design for manufacturability.
