Senior Formulations Scientist
Seeking an innovative researcher to work in a dynamic R&D group within the Georgia-Pacific Chemistry Platform as a Senior Formulations Scientist at our Neenah Technical Center (NTC). This position will leverage your formulation expertise in diverse application areas from papermaking additives to soaps and sanitizers to plate and cup coatings. No two days are quite the same as you develop the chemical solutions for GP’s future Consumer Products needs.
NTC, located in Neenah, WI, is the central site for research, development, and lab services for Georgia-Pacific’s North American Consumer Products business. Our consumer brands are household names throughout North America – Quilted Northern® and Angel Soft® bath tissue, Brawny® paper towels, Dixie® plates and bowls, and many others. We also produce products such as enMotion® towels and dispensers, as well as SmartStock® cutlery dispensers for commercial markets. Many of the store-brands at your favorite retailers are our products too!

What You Will Do In Your Role
Innovation: Seek inspiration across all of GP Consumer Products to develop new ideas in chemistry formulation to create value for both the company and our customers. From concept to commercialization, you’ll have an impact on shaping the future of our products.
Entrepreneurship: Take ownership of your projects and work within a supportive team environment to bring your new ideas to life. Work with product development, operations, sourcing, and product stewardship to uncover new opportunities and deliver unique solutions.
Leadership: Provide technical recommendations as a subject matter expert for formulations and chemistry development and assist with skill-building and teaching within the organization. Lead project teams to tackle problems holistically. Exercise your leadership skills in new ways through portfolio and program development as you share out key strategies and technology advancements with internal stakeholders.
Career Development: Leverage the internal network within GP and Koch Industries to share your technical expertise and learn from a diverse group of scientists within the organization. We’ll help match your individual strengths and passion areas to high value projects.
The Experience You Will Bring
- Bachelor’s in Chemistry or Engineering and Ten (10) or more years of industrial work in a chemical R&D environment -OR- an Advanced degree (M.S. or PhD) in Chemistry or Engineering and Five (5) or more years of industrial work in a chemical R&D environment
- Experience working in a Research & Development environment with demonstrated results independently leading research, developing new/creative solutions, and scaling up to commercialization
- Experience with developing aqueous-based formulated products
What Will Put You Ahead
- Advanced degree (M.S. or PhD) in Chemistry or Engineering and Ten (10) or more years of industrial work in a chemical R&D environment
- Experience and knowledge of FDA and EPA regulations and requirements related to direct food contact, OTC/cosmetics, and/or FIFRA regulated products.
- Experience in project management and team leadership
