John Zink is seeking a Controls Engineer, with a preference to be located at our Tulsa, OK location, but we will also consider remote applicants.

This role will work to design and test a wide variety of industrial control panels and associated electrical/electronic equipment for our manufactured and packaged equipment. This position will be responsible for concurrent projects with accountability over designs, schedules, and budgets for electrical and programming project scope. Candidate must demonstrate excellent communication skills with a focus on creating value and customer service.

What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Assume ownership of electrical aspects of assigned projects for controls engineering related jobs
  • Specify electrical equipment, create bills of material, create schematic wiring diagrams, single line diagrams and develop controls programs
  • Be responsible for design of local control panels, PLC panels, motor control panels including VFDs and 3 phase power equipment
  • Collaborate with other project team members to assure quality equipment delivery to the customer
  • Assist sales engineers with proposals, cost estimates, and documentation
  • Support technicians and customers with field issues

The Experience You Will Bring

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
  • Experience with electrical and control panel design
  • Experience working with specific codes and standards such as NEC, UL, CSA
  • Experience generating electrical plans, schematics, interconnection drawings, single line diagrams and PLC programs
  • Must have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Master's Degree in an Engineering discipline
  • 3+ years’ experience working on all types of industrial, electrical, and electronic equipment including, but not limited to motors, valves, actuators, transmitters, and PLC equipment
  • 3+ years’ experience with electrical and control panel design
  • 3+ years’ experience with NEC and NFPA
  • Experience designing, specifying, operating, function testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of controls and instrumentation related equipment in the refinery and petrochemical industry. 
  • Experience designing and specifying systems located in hazardous locations per CSA, ATEX or IECEX requirements
  • PE Certification 


Based on experience, the salary range for this role is $110,000 - $140,000.
