Corrosion Engineer



FHR in Wichita, KS is looking for a Corrosion Engineer to manage the threat of external and internal corrosion on pipelines, tanks, and facilities in TX, MN, WI, IA, MO, and IL

What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Employ economic and risk-based thinking in assessing asset integrity/reliability and threat mitigation effectiveness
  • Monitor and follow up on corrosion monitoring data for internal corrosion, cathodic protection, atmospheric corrosion, and coating issues
  • Implement corrosion control plans and new technologies to eliminate waste, increase efficiencies, or provide more reliable integrity-related information
  • Maintain corrosion-related Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and reporting
  • Lead and participate in Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) and recommend corrosion control solutions
  • Assist in maintaining corrosion program standards, procedures, technical guidelines, and forms
  • Provide technical support to field personnel
  • Influence corrosion control designs for new construction and asset changes
  • Understand and develop relationships with customers, both internal and external
  • Assist divisional corrosion control leaders with program cost forecasts
  • Follow safety rules and regulations and promote a positive safety culture

Physical requirements:

  • Occasionally works in hot, cold, or inclement climate conditions
  • Occasionally climbs ladders and stairs to reach equipment

The Experience You Will Bring


  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (preferably Chemical, Corrosion, Metallurgical, or Materials Science/Engineering)
  • Requires travel up to 20% of the time with overnight stays
  • Meet physical requirements

What Will Put You Ahead

  • NACE (AMPP) certification in internal corrosion, cathodic protection, and/or coating inspection
  • Experience with corrosion, electrochemistry, MIC or microbiology
  • Experience with oil and gas, pipeline, or refinery operating environment
