FIELD SUPERINTENDENT

What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Directing and ensuring compliance to all Koch-Glitsch Canada (KGC) and client environmental, health, and safety requirements as well as procedures and processes
  • Strong commitment to compliance and safety.
  • Support, supervise, and manage all aspects of shift site activities related to the field execution of projects assigned in various locations primarily throughout Alberta and Western Canada.
  • Support management and supervision of single or multiple field construction crews and/or craft disciplines, as well as KGC subcontractors.
  • Direct interaction with on-site client contacts and representatives as the KGC site representative for shift.
  • Preparation and submission of all required job site paperwork and data for the client and for KGC.
  • Job entails working extensive overtime, typically from days to weeks or possibly months away from home, outdoors in various conditions, at various heights, in various confined spaces, possibly in breathing air or respirator in industrial plants. There may be extensive travel across Canada.
  • Strong understanding of OH&S construction industry standards and application.
  • Strong work flow planning and project execution skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and properly follow information on mass transfer equipment drawings
  • Turnaround construction experience on columns or other mass transfer process equipment in the refining, petro-chemical and chemical industry.
  • Specific knowledge of Koch-Glitsch and other vendor mass transfer products.
  • Specific knowledge of various types of tower internals and installation procedures.
  • Specific knowledge of welding and cutting processes, pressure vessel welding and repair codes and requirements, and quality assurance/ quality control processes.
  • Specific knowledge of confined space work, tower revamps, layout work, tower attachment & nozzle installation, rigging, blinding, and general tower inspection, maintenance, and repair.
  • Computer skills utilizing software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Physical Demands / Unusual Working Conditions:

  • Job entails working extensive overtime, typically from days to weeks or possibly months away from home, outdoors in various conditions, at various heights, in various confined spaces, possibly in breathing air or respirator in industrial plants. There may be extensive travel across Canada.

  • Supervisory experience managing and directing field crews and/or subcontractors on field construction sites in the refining and petro-chemical industry.
  • Strong understanding of OH&S construction industry standards and application.

What Will Put You Ahead


  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Turnaround construction experience on columns or other mass transfer process equipment in the refining, petro-chemical and chemical industry.
