Georgia-Pacific Gypsum is looking for a dedicated and forward-thinking Safety Manager for our plant in Cumberland City, TN. The Safety Manager is to provide leadership and strategic direction in the area of health and safety, develop and align safety strategies, and ensure both leaders and employees are trained and equipped to manage safety issues. This position reports directly to the Plant Manager, with a dotted-line reporting to the Regional/Division Health & Safety Manager.

What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Promote a safety culture with all team members to help the facility embrace and achieve our Path to Zero Safety Strategy consistent with Koch’s Safety Vision.
  • Partner with Business HR to understand, develop, apply, and coach leaders on our culture of Principled Based Management®.
  • Own and propagate all safety initiatives/programs (HOP, CSO Teams, Safety Training, etc.).
  • Conduct routine EHS reporting.
  • Ensure an effective change management process is in place.
  • Significantly contribute to the selection, onboarding, and development of talent, resulting in continuous site-wide alignment with safety.
  • Actively manage all aspects of compliance (e.g., OSHA, state, local, company standards) including OSHA PSM.
  • Ensure facility risk profile is addressed through development and implementation of key controls.
  • Drive continuous improvement using tools and activities, including self-assessments and audit processes; incident/near miss investigations; metrics and targets (leading and lagging indicators); and periodic reviews of performance, culture, and talent.
  • Effectively communicate facility safety vision, strategies, and performance to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage Workers Compensation process

The Experience You Will Bring


  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in safety, industrial hygiene, (or a related degree), or an engineering degree OR three plus (3+) years of safety experience in an industrial, military, or manufacturing process environment
  • Experience in manufacturing, industrial or military safety leadership
  • Experience with OSHA, state, and local safety and compliance standards

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Five (5+) plus years of safety experience in an industrial or manufacturing process environment
  • Experience leading process safety programs
  • Experience onboarding and developing employees, helping to foster a safety-driven culture
  • Experience in leading a site to improved safety and performance
  • Experience working in building products
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
  • Demonstrated experience in leading culture change and developing/implementing management systems
