Senior Mechanical Engineer

In the UK, Guardian is continually looking for talented individuals to help them continue their growth and presence in the regional market. All UK manufacturing is based from the plant in Goole, East Yorkshire which has recently made significant investment in a new furnace which uses advanced technology and will secure glass manufacture at the site for the next 20 years. The plant is able to produce some of the most advanced and innovative energy saving architectural glass on the market today. The plant is a lower tier COMAH site which operates a 24/7 manufacturing environment.

As part of the Maintenance Engineering team, Guardian is looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer who will be responsible for significant transformational CapEx projects as well as identifying and developing continuous improvement opportunities of existing mechanical manufacturing assets. Reporting into the Maintenance Manager, this is a far reaching mechanical role with a broad remit across a diverse facility. 

What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Manage significant CapEx projects which supports the company transformation of the future factory initiatives
  • Work with Engineering Excellence and successfully partnership Operations teams to develop project engineering scopes utilising the latest technologies
  • Perform contractor analysis, selection, and on-site contractor management as required
  • Identify and develop continuous improvement opportunities for safety, reliability and efficiency of plant assets and equipment
  • Provide technical support to Operations and Maintenance teams

      The Experience You Will Bring


      • Degree qualified in mechanical engineering
      • Self-Motivated and able to work autonomously, whilst building close working relationships with Production and Operations teams
      • Proven technical knowledge to be able to participate in all stages of a project lifecycle from procurement through to install & commissioning
      • Skills to identify or predict equipment deviations and apply problem solving techniques to solve complex issues and provide solutions
