Georgia Pacific Recycling is seeking a Safety Specialist to join our Team This role will support the development and implementation of both essential safety and health initiatives in addition to multi-site health and safety capability development.

What You Will Do In Your Role

· Ensuring compliance with OSHA and GP requirements for the respective areas. Promote, and educate GPR safety principles throughout the division to reduce risk to employees, our environment, and our community. Ensuring the development, improvement, and implementation of safety training systems
· Working closely with facility leadership/maintenance to assure mechanical integrity is managed in keeping with risk-based safety objectives and compliance-based requirements
· Leading the development of risk assessment methods/systems for anticipating, identifying, and evaluating hazards, overseeing evaluation, interpretation, and compliance with state and federal regulations and permits
· Applying Human & Organization Performance (HOP) concepts to facilitate a robust learning environment
· Utilize the Risk Management System is utilized to sustain and improve performance. Includes leading and participating in risk assessments while building knowledge and capability through the organization
· Communicating with business unit safety, health, and environmental CSO’s and personnel to assure alignment with business vision, strategy, and programs
· Facilitate incident investigations, ensuring HOP concepts are utilized so the learning is maximized and ensuring recommendations are effective from both a prevention and recovery perspective

Leadership/Talent Management:

· Serving as a coach and resource to facility/office leadership, associates and other team members to develop and execute short and long-term EH&S targets, strategies, and measures that prioritize and mitigate risks
· Providing leadership/guidance to GPR to achieve the vision of ZERO significant incidents
· Leading, coaching, and developing knowledge and skills of GPR associates utilizing the MBM® Guiding Principles and Operations Excellence tools to improve their capability and performance
· Utilizing development plans to grow safety/health and environmental process skills and knowledge though innovation in training and development programs
· Assist with developing strategies for emerging facility needs and initiatives related to risk reduction aligned with asset strategies
· Align resources required to effectively execute strategies

      The Experience You Will Bring

      Requirements:

      · Bachelor’s Degree or higher Safety & Health, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or related field, or three or more years in a safety related role in an industrial/manufacturing facility
      · Experience in influencing operating leadership teams as well as site safety and health teams/associates
      · Experience using and applying effective EHS Management Systems while achieving demonstrated results
      · Experience and working knowledge of OSHA regulations and compliance

        What Will Put You Ahead

        · Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or equivalent certification
        · Five or more years is a safety leadership type role at an industrial/manufacturing facility
        · Experience with managing Environmental programs, including working knowledge of EPA related programs/laws
