Flint Hills Resources, Corpus Christi Refinery is hiring for an individual looking to start or grow their career as a Project Manager in the Project Management Group. This position will lead cross-functional project capabilities to efficiently implement improvements to meet specific business objectives. This position is accountable for project execution from start to finish and includes objective alignment, option selection, project scoping, project planning, project sanctioning, design development, execution, commissioning, and start-up. The Project Manager works with various support capabilities including business team, process engineering, cost estimating, cost analysis, scheduling, discipline specific subject matter experts, construction, and Day 1 Readiness. Projects are expected to range in size from $500K to $20M.

What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Managing multiple projects using an approach that ensures the quality and competitive performance expected by stakeholders
  • Will be motivated to contribute to the daily success of your role and the business
  • Leading a project team consisting of engineers, operations, construction, and vendors to ensure all aspects of the project are properly considered, including scope selection, safety, environmental, construction, operations, and reliability
  • Effectively managing costs and schedule to drive toward best in industry performance
  • Developing project execution plans with focus on scope, cost, schedule, risk management, engineering, procurement, and construction. 
  • Communicating project status to various stakeholders within the organization
  • Utilizing knowledge & experience with earned decision rights to create value in a project management environment that ensures the quality and competitive performance expected by stakeholders
  • Utilizing skills to recognize opportunities for value creation and innovation in the project management work processes
  • Infrequent turnarounds may require weekend and evening hours for project support 
  • Physical requirements may include climbing ladders/stairs to elevated platforms 
  • Travel 10% as needed

The Experience You Will Bring


  • A BS degree in Engineering OR high school diploma plus 10 years of experience in direct project management of industrial projects
  • 5 years of Experience (internships included) working in a refining, chemical, or a heavy industrial manufacturing environment as plant/facility/project engineer/entry level project manager.
  • Experience and capability to lead and coordinate teams while proactively removing roadblocks
  • Experience using critical thinking skills to communicate both written and orally across all facets of an organization

What Will Put You Ahead

  • 2+ years’ experience working in a Refinery or Chemical plant
  • Project management work experience in a refinery or petrochemical environment
  • Knowledge of Project Controls systems
  • Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • Texas (or reciprocal) PE license


This role is subject to the Transportation Workers Identification Credentialing (TWIC) rule and requires the successful candidate to obtain a TWIC identification badge, allowing for un-escorted access to the facility within a specific time period.
