Reliability Equipment Assessor



John Zink is looking for a Reliability Equipment Assessor to join our team! The Assessor will act as a trusted advisor to our external customers and provide technical reports advising our customers on equipment and operating conditions in refineries, petrochemical plants, and gas plants.

What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Regularly visit plant sites to inspect and assess equipment health as well as make recommendations
  • Compile field findings and photos into report format
  • Build/maintain plant relationships
  • Provide exceptional customer service
  • Educate our customers on safe practices, preventative maintenance and provide operational guidance which in turn leads to the discovery of opportunities

The Experience You Will Bring


  • Previous experience working with combustion equipment or in the refining and petrochemical industries
  • Knowledge of controls and ignition systems
  • Have or ability to obtain Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC)
  • Ability to read and understand drawings, blueprints, and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
  • Ability to travel up to 60% of the time
  • Willing and able to meet all physical requirements for the roles
  • Must have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experience troubleshooting, operating, or commissioning process burners, process heaters, flares and/or thermal oxidizers
  • Previous experience working in a Hydrocarbon and Chemical Processing (HPI/CPI) facility
  • Previous experience working with process burners, flares, thermal oxidizers, process heater operations, boilers and/or duct burners
  • Technical degree from an accredited college / vocational school (i.e. mechanical, welding)

Physical Demands

  • Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather
  • Climb ladders and stairs from 4’- 300’
  • Ability to work in confined spaces 
  • Must pass a respirator fit test
