SHIFT TECHNICIAN

Georgia-Pacific is seeking Shift Technician at our Plattsburgh, NY facility to manufacture Quilted Northern Ultra Plush tissue safely and efficiently. This position offers opportunities for development within your role and future growth within the company. Georgia-Pacific’s Plattsburgh facility uses state of the art innovation and technology to manufacture Quilted Northern Ultra Plush Tissue. Quilted Northern is a brand of choice and is widely used in homes and businesses across the country. 

Shift Technician earns a starting pay of $25.35/HR - $32.25/HR based on experience with opportunity to advance within the company with the potential of higher compensation and responsibilities. 

Candidates will work a rotating 12-hr shift to include weekends, holidays, and overtime. GP offers a competitive benefit package including medical and dental coverage, life insurance, paid holidays and vacations, and a 401K plan with company match. THIS POSITION INCLUDES A $2,500 SIGN-ON BONUS PAID ON FIRST FULL CYCLE PAY CHECK.


What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Demonstrate advanced levels of E&I and Mechanical capabilities resulting in excellence in Safety, Quality assurance and -Identify and eliminate potential failures to help maximize asset performance
  • Facilitate and assist in root Cause Analysis of premature failures; offering solutions and implementing corrective actions preventing reoccurrence
  • Utilize work processes and CMMS to document findings and initiate corrective actions
  • Demonstrate troubleshooting skills that allow our equipment to operate as designed in accordance with OEM specifications
  • Ensure proper operation of electrical control system components including motors and drive controllers, programmable logic control (PLC) I/O modules, safety controllers, etc.
  • Mentor and share knowledge with other shift technicians
  • Work a rotating 12 hour shift to include weekends, holidays and overtime as needed


The Experience You Will Bring

Requirements:

  • High school diploma and a minimum of four (4) years of mechanical and electrical experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience of NFPA 70, 70E and other NFPA standards
  • Mechanical maintenance experience
  • Experience with electrical schematics and general equipment documentation
  • Mechanical maintenance experience, including power transmission, hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Experience with electrical schematics and general equipment documentation
  • Experience with Microsoft Office software, Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and production software


      What Will Put You Ahead

      • Associates or technical degree or higher in electrical and mechanical and at least two years of electrical and instrument and control troubleshooting experience in a manufacturing environment
      • Experience in condition-based monitoring (i.e., vibration analysis, infrared, ultrasound)
      • Experience with Honeywell, Experion or other Distributed Control System (DCS) platforms
      • Experience with Honeywell BMS, Honeywell transmitters (temperature, pressure, and level), Emerson Micromotion Flowmeters and Emerson Rosemount Transmitters (temperature, pressure, and level)
      • Experience with Motor control Centers (MCCs) and related electrical equipment up to 2300v
      • Allen-Bradley, control Logix or other PLC programmable and/or troubleshooting experience
      • Advanced technical degree in the electro-mechanical or industrial maintenance fields
